Entering a Secret Investment Dimension

In “The Chronicles of Narnia,” an ordinary wardrobe led to a vibrant, magical kingdom; in the Harry Potter series, all the wizardly action you could ever want was found at the nondescript Platform 9¾ at King’s Cross station. Both destinations wrought wonders for the adventurous, while remaining invisible to the unimaginative. In investment circles, the equivalent may well be fund manager Dimensional Fund Advisors.

Founded in 1981, Dimensional is the eighth largest mutual fund manager today. Its board of directors includes Eugene Fama, the 2013 Nobel Prize in Economics laureate we mentioned in our last post. In a recent report from Cogent Research, the firm topped the list as financial advisors’ favorite fund company. We could go on. The point is, fund families such as Vanguard, Fidelity and countless others are household names. How is it that Dimensional Fund Advisors, with all of its credentials, has remained hidden in plain sight for more than 30 years?

We invite you to explore Dimensional’s website today. And stay tuned for next week’s post, in which we’ll explore this question at greater length. Or, you can contact us any time, to begin the conversation even sooner.
